This Summer

 Hey blog readers! My job is to tell you tips on how to save the planet, update you on natural disasters, and say funny jokes. So today's topic is, "This Summer". Here are some tips on what you can do this summer to save the planet, while having fun.

1.  Go on a picnic, and hike while your at it. And instead of using plastic bags and stuff for the food, use reusable containers.
2. Play outside everyday, instead of being lazy and watching T.V. until your brain rots.
3. Ride a bike to the mailbox. Instead of taking the car.
4. Instead of going to those expensive water parks, go to your local pool, or if a friend has a pool, go to their house.
5. Instead of having a water-balloon fight, use water guns. They're reusable, don't pollute the planet, and will get the other person way more wet.
6. Have a neighborhood barbie-Q. And use chicken instead of beef. ( ever heard of a turkey burger, I have, they have better taste than regular burgers. But that's just my opinion)

EASTER TIPS

Here are some tips for Easter tomarrow.

• instead of using plastic eggs for the egg hunt, use real hard boiled eggs.
• instead of putting candy inside the eggs, have whoever collects the most eggs get a prize.
• if you have plastic eggs left over from last Easter, its ok to use them but keep reusing them each and every Easter until they can't be reused anymore.
• don't hire an Easter bunny for your kids, because the " Easter bunnies" ride uses up fossil fuels, and it goes into the air as greenhouse gases. instead of renting one, buy or make a home-made bunny suit yo wear.

HAPPY EARTH-DAY

Happy earth-day everyone! Plant a tree, pick up trash off the streets, do something to help the planet! Come on people for one day do something that might help.

PASIFIC FISH HAVE PLASTIC IN STOMACHS

 Yesterday in the news paper I noticed this article.
   long beach California. researchers said about a third of the fish collected in the northern Pacific Ocean had plastic in their stomachs.
   the Long-Beach-based Algalita  Marine Research Foundation and the Costa Mesa-based Southern California Coastal Water Research Project said the study shows the troubling effect floating litter has on marine life.
   the study said about 35% of the fish collected during the 2008 research expedition had ingested plastic. Researchers trawled 1,000 miles off the coast for fish living among floating debris in an area known as the Eastern Garbage Patch.
   the Los Angeles Times said the fish each ingested an average 2 pieces of plastic, but plankton-eating lantern-fish each had up to 83 plastic fragments.
    Researchers are sharing their findings at Friday's Plastics Are Forever International Youth Summit in Long Beach.  
     See. this is why we shouldn't through garbage into the ocean, soon this will effect animals who eat sea-animals(like us for instance) and then things that eat them and it will go on until everything is effected. One way we can prevent this is recycling.

WATER

   Don't waste your drinking water by pouring it down the drain. Instead, pour it on a nearby thirsty plant or top off your fish bowl.
   Before leaving the bathroom or kitchen, double- check to make sure your tap isn't dripping. Millions of gallons of wasted water go down the drain every day because of leaky fausets.
    Install a low-flow shower head in all your bathrooms. Using less water in the shower means there is less energy required to heat the water.

MY THOUGHTS ABOUT THE OIL SPILL

You have all read about the things I have written about the BP oil spill, but you haven't yet heard my opinions about it. I think that we haven't been taking care of our planet, the oil spill isn't the only example. There are many others too. There have been signs that we have ignored and failed to see. Global warming is one sign we have paid attention to. But there are other signs a few, not all, have failed to see. One is how trash that we leave on beaches and in lakes and rivers,so I suggest that we all pick up 5 pieces of trash of the ground and streets every week. Then by the end of the year, just Somerset could clean up more than half of the earth's litter. And if you ever go snorkling, or go rafting in a river, look closely for trash in the water. Then, if you find some trash in the water, please pick it up.
