BRING THE RAFT, BUT TAKE THE TRASH!

Hey! I know that I haven't posted in a while, but that's going to change! now here is a news paper clipping from a couple of months ago.  RENO COUPLE CLEANS UP RIVER AREA WHEN NO ONE ELSE WILL: Looking down at the Truckee River from his home on Idlewild Drive in Reno, Dennis Martin can make out the discarded beer cans shining when the sun heats them.
In recent weeks, martin and his wife, Coleen, have noticed more cans and trash floating along the river. With warm temperatures, the number of people floating down the river on inflatable rafts or inner tubes has grown, meaning more litter that the Martins say they clean up because city officials have not acted on their requests.
"This stuff doesn't belong in the water," Dennis Martin said Aug.1, pointing to a pump station operated by the Truckee Meadows Water Authority across the way from his house."This is the city's water supply."
The Martins walked in the waist-deep water on Aug.1, stopping occasionally to pick out the empty beer cans they noticed floating down the river or stuck among the rocks. Colleen Martin held a trash bag to collect the cans.
Young adults floated by on the rafts or inner tubes. None were seen throwing empty beer cans in the water, although one young woman was seen getting out of the water to trow trash in a garbage can.
Dennis martin has taken photos that show makeshift boat parties with young adults with empty beer cans strewn about. in one photo, a young man is seen urinating in the water, even with a portable toilet a few feet away.
Well that's it. Come back on Sunday to read a new post! ; )
